A Buss from Lafayette bookcoverDorothea Jensen

Dorothea Jensen will be at Well Sweep Gallery on August 5, 2017 at 10am, to tell the story of how she came to write her book, “A Buss from Lafayette”, about this famous French soldier, a favorite of General George Washington.

“A Buss from Lafayette, by Dorothea Jensen, is a fun and fascinating read.  Jensen weaves threads of historical fact within this coming-of-age story that will resonate with young audiences on many levels.  Readers will love the tale of the highly relatable Clara and may even learn a thing or two about why Lafayette was so highly esteemed in America in the 1800s.  This book is recommended for home and school libraries and has earned the Literary Classics Seal of Approval.”  —Children’s Literary Classics

Later on that afternoon, August 5, 2017 at 2pm, Katy Kramer will be telling the story of the Portsmouth Naval Prison and later signing her book “Portsmouth Naval Prison“.  Most of us who have wondered about this mysterious building will be eager to hear her story.

About the Author

The dearth of information about the prison, not far from her home, has kept author Katy Kramer researching for over a decade. Currently freelancing and teaching college composition, she has written features for magazines, university publications, and local newspapers. Photographs have primarily been gathered from special collections, libraries, and museums.
